Source Registry

Every China-regulatory and vendor fact on chinagateway.pro traces to a primary source. This page lists all 89 sources we cite — government portals, cloud-vendor documentation, WeChat developer pages, and carrier references — with the exact URL, what on-site claim each source supports, the date we last accessed it, and its current status.

We built this registry so readers can verify our claims independently. If a regulation changes or a vendor page moves, the status tags below tell you what we know and when we last checked. To see the regulations behind those claims laid out by date — filing bases, CAC orders, the VATS pilot, the platform gates — the regulations timeline assembles them in one place.

A country picker organized by region (Asia, Europe, America, Oceania, Africa) renders server-side as display content; the country list is not republished. The /en/aboutUs/ pages returned HTTP 403 on access (2026-10-03) — no corporate-profile, ownership, or founding facts banked; no merchant-onboarding, acquiring, fee, or eligibility content renders on either page. Cited in our test-website-from-china article and CN2/CMI transit glossary.

No other banked primary source exists for this cluster. Our test-website-from-china article's method facts are anchored to on-site ground truth and vendor-node checks. All third-party testing tools seen in our wave-3 scan are excluded (not primary sources). Finding a primary source for testing methodology is queued for a future change-watch run.

Excluded Sources

Nine items were considered and not registered. Reasons:

  • appinchina.co, chinafirewalltest.com, websitepulse.com, en.greatfire.org, webtest.accesstochina.com, testlocal.ly, perfops.net, app2china.com — third-party tools and roundups from a SERP scan. Not primary sources. Not cited by our content.
  • www.gov.cn PIPL mirror — HTTP 404 on 2026-09-30. Dead.
  • npc.gov.cn committee-article index — wrong page (law title in nav only). Explicitly discarded in the fetch log.
  • admin.weixin.qq.com — overseas Official Account portal candidate. Failed to load twice (TLS/empty responses) on 2026-10-01. Our “case-by-case, needs verification” stance is unchanged.
  • help.aliyun.com basic-service-billing slug — guessed URL, returned 404. Never a real source.
  • cloud.tencent.com/document/product/243 (bare root) — anti-bot shell. Nav root, no discrete fact.
  • alibabacloud.com/pricing/product/ecs — JS pricing console. Never fetched successfully.
  • DuckDuckGo HTML/lite — search engine, not a source.
  • pay.wechat.com — named on-site only as the domain that is not the merchant platform. It is the subject of a fact, not a source verifying one.

How We Use These Sources

Change-watch cadence

We re-check banked sources on every change-watch run (typically monthly). Each run tests whether live pages return the same content, whether retired redirects still resolve to valid successors, and whether dead-for-figures pages have recovered server-side rendering. The next change-watch queue includes: retrying the kf.qq fee page in a real browser, re-checking retired-redirect successors, and attempting a rendered fetch of beian.miit.gov.cn.

Dead-page policy

When a source page dies or moves, the facts we cited from it do not disappear. They stay on our site with their original access date and a status tag explaining what happened. Pages that stop rendering keep their registry entry — marked, re-checked on every change-watch run, never silently dropped. A dead-for-figures tag means the data no longer server-renders, not that it was wrong when we recorded it. A retired-redirect means the vendor reorganized its docs; we check the successor page for a content match.

On-site reliance

Every source on this page tagged Live — 75 of the 89 — now hyperlinks straight to the primary URL (91 links, plus the CAC filing-guides entry's archive-snapshot link). Our articles and glossary pages continue to cite sources as figures or plain-text domain references. This registry shows what inline citations cannot: the full source trail.

No invented sources

Every URL in this registry appears in our banked research files. We did not fetch new pages to build this list. If a URL does not appear in our change-watch logs, wave-3 research probes, or brief bank, it is not here.

Frequently asked questions

What do the status labels mean?

The registry uses four tags. Live means the page returned full content on last access. Partially-rendering means the portal is alive but its content sits behind JavaScript anti-bot protection — probes confirm the portal is up, not that content is retrievable. Dead-for-figures means the page loads but the specific data no longer server-renders (JS shell, login-gated, or client-side only); facts cited from earlier verified fetches keep their original access date. Retired-redirect means the URL moved to a successor page; the successor is live and we re-check it against the facts we cited.

A cited page stopped rendering — is the citation dead?

Not necessarily. The registry's dead-page policy keeps every fact on our site with its original access date and a status tag explaining what happened. For example, the kf.qq fee FAQ's figures were verified on 2026-09-28, before the page stopped server-rendering the rate schedule; the entry is tagged dead-for-figures and re-checked on every change-watch run, and those figures stay anchored to that 2026-09-28 verification. A retired-redirect works the same way — the retired WeChat Pay cross-border wiki/FAQ tree is marked retired with no resurfacing as of 2026-10-01, and our article already labels those timeline figures as “listed, not confirmed current.”

Why are some regulator URLs plain text?

The registry explains the convention in its “On-site reliance” section: articles and glossary pages cite sources as figures or plain-text domain references, while the registry itself shows the full source trail. Some portals — like the MIIT filing portal at beian.miit.gov.cn — are JS anti-bot shells, so the registry lists them as plain-text domains with a status tag and access date instead of hyperlinks. You can see exactly what was checked and when; the on-site citation in our articles stays a plain-text domain reference either way.
